Before and after
The same gutter, before and after
Photographed from the same spot before we started and again once we had finished.

Nanoose Bay covers a lot of ground for a place without a town centre. It reaches from the open headlands of the peninsula, past the houses and businesses along Highway 19, up into forested land along Northwest Bay Road. A gutter on a rock bluff at Powder Point and a gutter under fir near Enos Lake fill up in completely different ways, so we treat them as different jobs.
We clean gutters and downspouts in every part of Nanoose Bay: Fairwinds and Schooner Cove, Powder Point, Beachcomber, Red Gap and the roads running inland from the highway.
On the peninsula
Much of the peninsula is rock with thin soil and scattered trees, so many roofs there have little canopy over them. Those gutters do not fill with leaves. They fill with what blows in or washes down: moss off the roof, fine grit from the shingles, dry grass seed and the odd twig carried on the wind. The layer is thin but dense, and it collects right at the outlet.
Houses here are often built to the slope, with a tall wall on the downhill side and decks below the gutter. We plan where each ladder goes before we start, so nothing rests on railings, glass or deck boards that cannot take it.

Along Highway 19 and Red Gap
Near the highway there is a mix of older homes, newer builds, detached garages and workshops, often with mature trees that have been growing for decades. An older gutter may have been patched more than once. We clean by hand, watch the seams and hangers as we go and mention anything that looks tired. Where a run needs more than cleaning, our gutter repair work covers seams, end caps and loose hangers.
Up Northwest Bay Road
Inland, the lots get bigger and the trees close in. Douglas fir and western red cedar stand over many of these roofs, and needles and cedar sprays come down in every season. A house in the trees can need its gutters done twice a year, and sometimes more under a big fir.
Access matters more out here. Long driveways, gates, dogs and outbuildings all go into the quote, so tell us about them up front. A detached garage or workshop under the same trees usually fills just as fast as the house, and we can clean it on the same visit.

If you collect rainwater
Some properties send their downspouts to a barrel or a tank. If yours does, the gutter is the first filter in the system, and whatever sits rotting in the trough ends up in the water. Clean gutters and fine-mesh gutter guards help a lot. We clean the gutter and the downspout down to where it leaves the wall. The tank, its filters and its plumbing stay with you or whoever installed them.

Got questions?
Nanoose Bay gutter cleaning FAQ
We are outside Parksville city limits. Do you still come out?
Yes. Nanoose Bay is not a municipality; it is an unincorporated area governed by the Regional District of Nanaimo. That makes no difference to us. We cover all of it, from the peninsula to the uplands.
Our driveway is steep and narrow. Where will you park?
Tell us about it when you ask for a quote. We can park at the top and carry ladders down, or come down if there is room to turn. Knowing in advance means we bring the right ladders and do not block a neighbour's access.
Can you clean a gutter that sits above a deck with a glass railing?
Yes. We set the ladder so it does not bear on the glass or the railing cap, and we keep debris in the bag rather than letting it drop onto the deck boards. If there is no safe footing for a ladder at that spot, we will tell you and explain how we would reach it instead.
Do you fit gutter guards here?
Yes, on a cleaned and flushed gutter. They earn their keep under heavy fir and on houses that collect rainwater. On an open lot with few trees overhead, a regular clean is often the better choice, and we will say so.
